Three Soldiers Suspended from Australia’s Army for Video Scandals

Austrialian Lt. General David Morrison announced the suspension of three soldiers who have distributed demeaning, explicit and profane videos that had some of Australia’s female soldiers. Lt. General Morrison said that male troops should treat female soldiers fairly and properly or get out. He added that the female part of the army is vital to the Australian army’s capability in the future.

Morrison expressed his views by saying that soldiers who cannot accept women in the military should get out and find another employer where their attitude and behaviour is acceptable. He said anybody who think that toughness is built on humiliating comrades should also get out of the Australian army.

Women joined as troops in 2011 after being allowed as auxiliary units and nurses in the early 20th century and then non-combat troops in the 70s and 80s. Female troops, according to Morrison, have proven to be some of the best soldiers the Australian army has ever had.

Lt. Gen. Morrison expressed that he will be ruthless in ridding the army of people who cannot live up to its values and asks for the support of the army to achieve it.

Morrison’s statement came as at least 17 soldiers circulated videos amongst themselves of having sex with female soldiers. Some ranks involved a Lieutenant colonel and even a major.
