Baton Rogue Killer Expressed “Anger” Against US Police Forces

The killer of three US Police Officers in Baton Rogue posted videos complaining about police treatment of African-Americans and urged people to fight back.

Gavin Long, an ex-marine of 29-years-old had killed three US police officers. He was killed as he exchanged fire against police forces in the area on Sunday morning.

Baton Rogue’s incident involved police shooting dead a black man two weeks ago. The death of the man, along with another shooting in Minnesota, had sparked the ire of Americans nationwide.

Gavin Long was triggered by the two deaths to create a revenge attack. He had shot down five officers dead in Dallas.

Gavin Long was a former Marine from August 2005 to August 2010. He had risen to the rank of sergeant. He had served in Iraq from June 2008 to January 2009.

He was a decorated veteran with medals and commendations. He had also received an honorable discharge upon his retirement.

US President Barack Obama said Americans must unite and avoid using divisive language.

His video and online postings used the pseudonym Cosmo Setepenra. He rails against what he sees as injustices against black people, at one point saying “you gotta fight back”.

In one video, posted on YouTube, Long says that should “anything happen” to him, he was “not affiliated” with any group.
